A pair of mercantile buildings housing the Pearl Paint company, advertised as the World's Largest Art & Graphic Discount Center. The 5-story building at 306 Canal was completed in 1861, designed by John B. Snook. The 4-story building at 308 Canal was completed in 1865, with an unknown architect. Both buildings are painted in a bright red and white color scheme. The taller building has narrow round-arched windows in pairs on the 2nd floor, separated by round columns. The 3rd-floor windows have triangular pediments, while the two top floors have sills with corbelled feet and eared lintels.A red-painted roof cornice has brackets, modillions and dentils. The shorter building has arched lintels, and a red metal fire escape, and is capped by a red metal roof cornice, broken by the fire escape, with brackets extending down into the fascia board.
