224-foot, 18-story Beaux-Arts office building completed in 1905. Designed by Stockton B. Colt, it is U-shaped, with a light court at the rear of the lot. The building has a tri-partite composition, with a 4-story limestone base, red brick shaft, and white brick crown, topped by a prominent green roof cornice with large modillions and dentils. The ground floor is is lined with storefront, and a bronze-and-glass main entrance on Broadway framed in stone, with a pair of garlands and a dentiled cornice on top. The rest of the base has wide rusticated piers and a dentiled stone cornice above the 3rd floor. The 2nd-3rd floors have iron infill, with rows of dentils between the floors. The 4th floor has keystones atop each window, which are grouped in pairs.
The brick mid-section also has square-headed windows in pairs, with splayed brick lintels. Above the 13th floor, rusticated white brick piers rise to the roof line, with a stone cornice above the 14th floor, and cast-iron infill above that, featuring arched pediments. The attic story, just below the crowning cornice, has small square windows. The back side of the building, rising above the adjoining firehouse, it clad completely in red brick with square-headed windows. The roof cornice caps only the two main facades.
Also known as the Ungar Building, it remains in commercial use. The ground floor is occupied by Lot Less discount store, Solitaire Fine Jewelry, NYC Yogurt, and a GNC.
