Built as a 4-story Federal-style residential building in the early 1800s, the owners put up a haphazard-looking addition of several floors to the top of the building beginning in 2011. The original upper floors are clad in red brick. The 2nd & 3rd floors have three bays of square-headed windows, while a wide studio window replaced the original windows on the 4th floor. A black metal fire escape runs down the center of the facade. 96 Greenwich has housed the Pussycat Lounge for many years.
