The World Trade Center (WTC) is a complex of buildings in Lower Manhattan. This complex replaced the original WTC complex destroyed in the attacks of September 11, 2001.
The complex began construction in 2002, and has not reached full buildout. It currently contains four office towers, a memorial plaza, museum, transportation hub, underground shopping center, underground delivery center and parking garage, and Liberty Park. Upon full buildout, the complex will add additional towers, a shrine, and performing arts center. The components of the complex include:
- One World Trade Center - 1,776-foot, 110-story office tower designed by David Childs, completed in 2014;
- Two World Trade Center - 1,310-foot, 81-story office tower designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), construction on hold;
- Three World Trade Center - 1,155-foot, 80-story office tower designed by Richard Rogers, completed in 2018;
- Four World Trade Center - 798-foot, 70-story office tower designed by Fumihiko Maki, completed in 2013;
- Five World Trade Center - Site occupied by pedestrian plaza with no known plans for development;
- Seven World Trade Center - 743-foot, 52-story building designed by SOM, completed in 2006;
- WTC Transportation Hub - a transit center designed by Santiago Calatrava, completed in 2016;
- St. Nicholas National Shrine - Greek Orthodox Shrine within Liberty Park designed by Santiago Calatrava, originally to be complete in 2018 (delayed);
- Vehicular Security Center - Underground delivery and parking garage complex, completed in 2017;
- National September 11 Memorial - Landscaped public plaza with large fountains surrounding the site of the original twin towers;
- National September 11 Museum - Underground museum commemorating the attacks;
- Liberty Park - a raised park overlooking the Memorial and WTC complex;
- Silverstein Family Park - a park and plaza in front of Seven World Trade Center;
- Ronald O. Perelman Performing Arts Center - arts center under construction, with completion estimated for 2023.
