Some remains of an old fort was here, along with the remains of a Temple. Now Thirunellikkotta is only a myth. As per myth, the Thirunellikkotta Temple was dedicated to Lord Vishnu. An opinion is that there was a clash between the Rulers of Tirunellikkotta and the owners of The Kaviyoor Mahadevar temple( paththillaththil pottees). The ultimate result was the destruction of entire fort. The idol of Thirunellikkotta temple is believed to be lies submerged in the inner pool of the Mahakshaethra( Kaviyoor Mahadevar Temple.). However this area claims a good reserve of megalithic tools.
