Thrikkakuti Rockcut Temple is one of the three rock cut temples in Kerala. Origin 8th century. Pallava Archetecture. Two chambers. Outer chamber( mukha mandapa) consists of four stone figures. ganesa on the east, maharshi on the west and on both sides of the door to the garbhgriha(inner chamber) there are two dwarapalakas. inside the garbhagriha, a sivalinga (4 feet) is located. There are many legends about this rare temple. It is closely connected to the Kaviyoor Mahadeva Temple. The Temple Complex is a property of Travancore Devaswom Board.

  • I thought the property belonged to Archeological Survey of India. Travancore Devaswom Board just has the rights to do the pooja there.
  • It is unfortunate that this ancient temple and rock could not attract the required level of public attention. I feel that the lack of interest in Hindu community residing here has become a cause to this. This is a valuable asset to our heritage and we should extent all possible efforts to make this place well known in India.
