Hydro-Electric Substation

USA / California / San Antonio Heights /
 interesting place, nonresidential building

Located off the intersection of Mt Baldy Road, the Barrett-Stoddard Truck Trail
and a blocked remnant of Mountain Ave, this substation includes a visible spillway pool,
and is surrounded by several ruins indicative of recreational use...

The remains of a stone fountain and/or birdbath can be seen slightly to
the northwest of the building, as well as some sort of small stone shelter,
somewhat akin to structures once used to house above-ground
water control valves, etc.

The paved turnaround loop to the south shows some evidence
of designated parking and bygone picnic facilities.

There is also a large granite boulder to the east side which has a
Southern California Edison marker embedded into it,
similar to the small round survey markers used by the USGS.

in addition, the Barrett-Stoddard Truck Trail (dirt road leading directly past the front of the structure)
provides somewhat rocky access to the creek itself at a crossover bridge.

In drier weather, the creek bed can be crossed on foot, providing access to
a paved remnant of old Mountain Ave apx 0.5 mile in length
from blocked end (near substation) to a drop-off point some ways around
a major bend in the creek bed... a few tiny waterfalls can be seen below, from this road remnant...
