32-story modernist residential building completed in 1983. Designed by Schuman, Lichtenstein, Claman & Efron, it was intended as rental apartments, but was soon converted to condominiums. The building has a very distinctive and impressive marquee that serves as a covered entrance to the apartment tower on west and the New York Health & Racquet Club facility on the lower floors on the east. The marquee is made of polished dark-grey granite and stainless steel and the plaza has a black and white patterned sidewalk with sidewalk landscaping.
The lower three floors of the building are sheathed in polished dark-grey granite in a base that is set back substantially from the building line and its tower, which is clad in gray brick and concrete, is further setback on the base. The base sports two large angled flagpoles on the second floor for the American flag and for the health club's banner. The concrete core runs up the west side, with the rest of the front facade consisting of bands of windows between brick spandrels. Beginning at the 8th floor there are projecting concrete balconies with metal railings, many of which are enclosed by glass panes behind the railings (five windows wide). There are also black metal vents to the west of the balconies and two more on each floor to the east.
The rear, south-facing facade matches the north side, including the balconies, and the east elevation is plain concrete with no openings. The building contains 55 condominium units.
