Romanesque (architecture), Orthodox church, Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America
2-story church completed in 1886 as a clubhouse for the New York Democratic Party Tammany Club. It later became an Irish Knights of Columbus Clubhouse. This building became consecrated to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America in 1952. It is clad in orange-red brick, with a wide, low stoop at the east end, leading up to wooden double-doors under a round-arch with a terra-cotta molding. A rounded, red canvas canopy descends the steps, out to an iron gate around the stoop. To the left is a large, square opening with a splayed brick lintel filled with colorful stained-glass in geometric patterns. Below this is a segmental-arched window and basement door, also behind an iron gate.
A band course with a row of tiny rosettes caps the ground floor, and another underlines the 2nd floor, where two corbelled brackets support projecting brick piers with terra-cotta capitals. These carry a large round-arch with two narrow, round-arched windows inside it; the brick pilasters between the pair also has a stylized terra-cotta capital. An intricate pattern of terra-cotta tiling fills the architrave above these windows, and a terra-cotta molding caps the curve of the main arch. Flanking it are two more round-arched windows with terra-cotta moldings. Projecting flagpoles are mounted on the brick piers of the main arch. The center section rises to a tall gable, with the numbers "1886" affixed to it, and the facade is crowned by a fluted white metal roof cornice, peaked up over the gable. The ends of the cornice sit above white friezes with ornate carvings. A white cross crowns the gable.
The east elevation is faced in tan parged stucco and brick.
