Keller Peak Fire Lookout
Though not the first lookout built in the San Bernardino National Forest, Keller Peak Fire Lookout is the oldest remaining original tower. It is located three miles east of Running Springs at an elevation of 7,882 feet. The views from Keller are spectacular. You can see the San Gorgonio wilderness, the Santa Ana River drainage and the back side of the Seven Oaks dam.
The lookout, road, and peak are named for Ally Carlin Keller, born in San Bernardino in 1868, who at one time was an employee of the Forest Service.

  • In Oct of 2014, the volunteer manning the lookout tower on Keller Peak was very welcoming, allowing us to climb up & visit the lookout, open 9-5. In the youtube video, the smoggy area the gentleman points to is actually Victorville, not San Bernardino. The mountain he is not sure of is Mt Baldy (aka Mt San Antonio)
