Maravel Arts Center (New York City, New York)

4.5-story studio/office building completed in 2007. It is clad in red brick. The ground floor has a recessed stainless-steel door at the left, next to a glass double-door, both below transoms. At the right is a niche with a poster board. At the upper floors there are three bays of single-windows at the left, each with 3-over-4 panes. Above the 4th floor is a metal coping surmounted by an expanse of white stucco, also capped by metal coping. White stucco also surfaced the exposed front of the west elevation. On the east side of the main facade, above the niche at the ground floor, there is a vertical banner extending up to the 5th floor, where the brick rises higher than the white stucco at the left, and is also capped by metal coping. The east elevation is faced in white stucco, with five single-windows randomly spaced along the 2nd floor, and a couple more at the 4th floor.

The Maravel Arts Center is the home for Rosie O’Donnell’s arts education organization. Rosie’s Theater Kids (RTK) also provides mentoring and academic guidance for its students. The building has a performance studio, two dance studios, a music studio, practice rooms, dressing rooms, a study room, a cafe, and a rooftop garden.
