 apartment building, 1870s construction

5-story residential building originally completed in the 1870s as a row of five rowhouses. Around 1930, they were joined internally, with a unified, remodeled ground floor, along with the building on the east end at No. 414. The facade at Nos. 416-424 is clad in red-painted brick above a ground floor of beige stucco, smooth at the top and rough-faced with simulated stone blocks at the base. A recessed main entrance has been added near the center of the ground floor, with double glass doors and a small canopy. To either side are narrow windows, including single-windows and paired windows. There are also three small basement windows at the east end.

The upper floors consist of five groups of four windows per floor, with white stone sills and flat lintels. At the 3rd & 5th floors, decorative bands just below the lintels link the windows; they are gold-colored with rows of small diamond shapes. Five black iron fire escapes run down the middle two bays of each four-bay group, and the joined facade is topped by a beige stucco roof parapet with a metal coping.

The section at No. 414 has a different facade, faced in painted brownstone, except for at and below the level of the 1st floor's window sills, where it matches the rough-faced beige stucco of the rest of the base. There are two basement windows and a recessed basement doorway, down a set of steps. The 1st floor has large windows in the end bays, with simple, projecting surrounds, and a narrow double-window in the middle bay. The upper floors have four bays of single-windows, and the facade is also topped by a beige stucco parapet and coping, rising slightly higher than the rest of the facade.
