The Roos House was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Built for Leon L. and Elizabeth Roos in 1909, it is one of architect Bernard Maybeck's masterpieces. Its his largest residential work at 9,000 sq ft and features carved ornamental woodwork & tracery on the exterior, redwood paneling inside, plus numerous light fixtures, lanterns, and fireplaces designed by Maybeck.

Maybeck is best known as the architect of the nearby Palace of Fine Arts for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition.
