On windy days, East Beach is a favorite launching spot for windsurfers and kitesurfers. It is an advanced spot because of the strong currents that flow in and out of the Golden Gate. The sandy beach is also a favorite place for dog walkers. On most summer days the wind makes the beach too cool for sunbathing or swimming, but in late summer and fall a windless day will draw out the sunbathing crowd.
