Decumanus Maximus of the ancient complex Serdika - this is the central street in the east-west direction of ancient Serdika (Sofia). This ancient road will be restored and will become one of the tourist attractions of Sofia. Cardo Maximus is the road leading from north to south. The two streets Cardo and Decumanus are just below the two modern road arteries - Todor Alexandrov and Maria Louisa, which intersect at the subway point to the Central Department Store, near the church St. Petka. The eastern gate of the Serdika fortress can be seen in the subway in front of the former Party House and between the buildings of the Council of Ministers and the Presidency. There, the restoration and exhibition of the ruins were made in the 60s. Now we are making adjustments to Largo to break through the subway at the Party House. This way people will be able to walk along the entire Roman street, said the capital's chief architect, Petar Dikov. The three axes of the ancient streets intersect right next to St. Petka Church and this place will become a unique space connected to the metro station, he added. Dikov explained that where the pavement is preserved, passers-by will step on it. The missing parts will be marked so that it is clear where the road is.
