The Yellow Cobbles (Sofia)

Bulgaria / Sofija grad / Sofia
street, invisible, do not draw title

The streets in this part of Sofia's center are paved with yellow ceramic paving-blocks. The area is known by its nickname "The yellow cobbles" or Zhaltite paveta (Жълтите павета) in Bulgarian. They were laid in 1907-08 and covered a much larger area than they do today. As of 2012, the majority of the Yellow Cobbles are to be found between Parliament Square and the Presidency, along Tsar Osvoboditel Boulevard.
The yellow cobbles are in fact bricks.
