 bar, apartment building

5-story residential/commercial building completed in the 1880s. Sometime around the turn of the 20th-century, a 2-story commercial storefront was installed on the lower two floors, faced in bright red and black-painted metal and glass. The doorway to the upper floors is at the left, framed by fluted pilasters with wall lamps. The 2nd floor has a wide opening with three sets of pivoting double-windows on the right, and a door on the left opening onto a small landing for the black metal fire escape.

The fire escape continues up to the three upper floors, covering the eastern two of the four window bays. The upper floors are clad in reddish-brown brick with stone bands between the window sills and eared lintels, which have points at the centers. A tall brick roof parapet caps the facade, with a metal railing at the east end. The lower two floors are occupied by The Brazen Tavern.
