Koratur Lake is a Heart and Lung to the water needs of all the surrounding areas of this part, serves as a percolation pond to the drinking water needs of hundreds and thousands of people; But being allowed to Pollute with the waste waters of all the Industries of this area and by the Avin milk diary unit; the taste of the water already got spoiled to the nearby Periyar Nagar Housing Units/Koratur. Hence enough attention may be given not to allow the Industrial waste water to contaminate with the good quality of natural rain water of this particular lake, whose geographical location is exactly at the center of the Chennai Metro Area.

  • The korattur lake was once pronounced for drinking water by the late CM MG.Ramachandran the present condition of this lake now is pathetic and not suitable for any purpose the lake is contaminated by the sewage water coming from aawin milk society and by the adjoining companies a handful part of this lake is encroached by the local politicians and rowdies no one conscious about this issue nor worried i wonder how blind we are towards such atrocities towards nature. now i want to ask this million dollar question will this lake be saved?
  • hi all i wanna share sumthing abt koratur.. before 10 to 12 yrs it was famous for robbery & some evil incidents and people were afraid to survive there.. After 9pm no one will be there outside roaming cos of such fears.. But now it been gradually developed in which there is no much land to buy all got full and many flats, shopping mall, hospitals, has been occupied the whole area. Its really nice to KORATTUR as a developing area.

  • Hi, this is very usefull site to identify site and area details as well, here lot of unauthorised lake land occupied houses in the banks of lake,Lots of illegal activits are hiding and roaming this place.
  • My House is also nearby the lake. We are in Korattur for the past 50 years. Once we used to play cricket in dry beds in summer. But after Paal Pannai came to ambattur estate, it started discharging the wastes and our Great Lake was polluted and became unfit for taking bath and washing clothes.
