The former Pennsylvania Railroad's Avondale train station, at the junction/crossing of its Octoraro branch with its Pomeroy & Newark branch.
The Pomeroy & Newark Branch was abandoned around 1950 while the Octoraro branch was largely abandoned in 1972 after the remnants of hurricane Agnes brought severe flooding which washed out many portions of the line.
