The approximate location of where Dean Martin's son, Dean Paul Martin, and his Weapons Safety Officer, Captain Ramon Ortiz, died when he crashed his F-4 Phantom plane in 1987. It is almost mingled with another crash site, that of a C-119 Boxcar that went down during fire suppression efforts circa 1970s. The coordinates of the C-119 are 33 58'31.99, -116 46' 41.99. A Pratt & Whitney 2800 18 cylinder engine may still exist at the C-119 crash site. What little remains of Martin's F4, which hit a perpendicular wall, may remain in a dry creek.

The crash sites are located on private reservation land.

Comments

  • The back-seater in an F-4 Phantom is called a Weapons Systems Officer, not a Weapons Safety Officer.
  • In USAF, in US NAVY and MARINES is RIO Radar Intercept Officer
