The Adhiyamankottai fort was built by King Adhiyaman, who is also described as one of the "Kadaiyazhu Vallals i.e. one of the last seven benevolent Kings of Tamil Nadu". He got a Amla fruit which will give very long life to the eater. Instead of eating the fruit himself, he gifted to Avvaiar, a Tamil poetess. The fort is now appearing like circular a mud wall and can be seen the circular image in the map, passing through the lake, cuttig the rilway track and NH 7 by the side Kaliamman Temple and comming back and cutting NH 7 before Hosur / Dharmapuri bifurcation junction. Though Thadoor i.e Present Dharmapuri was his capital, Adhiyamankottai was his residential area.
