Mulbagilu hill fort seems to be built during Vijayanagara period. The hill is around 120m tall. The fort originally had seven rings of walls, several tanks to capture & store rain water and plenty of rock shelters.

Mulbagal is a town of temples. Anjaneya temple and Subramanya temple are the most popluar ones. About 2km and 8km South of Mulbagal are two places of historical and religious importance; Virupaksha and Avani.
