The original part of Salt Meadow farmhouse built c.1846 by local Quaker farmer and craftsman Leonard Mott for his son Edward Mott and wife Deborah Burtis. The home was actually located on the edge of a salt meadow, and was a stop on the underground railroad. Home was expanded in 1896, the Mott's daughter Elizabeth sold in 1900 to William Guggenheim, who at the time was buying up many local properties. He sold to W.A. Harriman in 1929, who expanded the mansion further to it's current form, 6 bedrooms 5 1/2 bathrooms 3 fireplaces.

The home recently went through a major restoration.
