The c.1920 5500sq ft stucco mansion built for Harold Brooks {merchant}. Brooks served as Director of Brooks Brothers Co. Clothiers, and was a great grandson of Henry S. Brooks, who founded the company in 1818. Brooks died at 52 in 1937, having been retired from day to day affairs of the company managing his large apple orchard in Nova Scotia. His brother Winthrop H. Brooks who lived in Glen Head, L.I. was running the company and was the last member of the family to do so. The home features an entry with mahogany wainscotting, vintage pocket doors, leaded glass, a double staircase with original banisters, and an original telephone booth. It appeared in "House & Garden" magazine, May 1916 (pg. 451) before alterations were made in the 20's.
