This forest area has been handed over to the Gramsabha of 7 villages to manage their own Forests under Forest Rights Act 2006. Villages involved are Shankarpur, Dongermendha, Kasari, Vitthal Gaon, Pimpalgaon, Gurnuli, Boldha and Rawanwadi. SRISHTI a voluntari organisation played a major role in motivating the people to demand claim over the forest for conservation and management of forest by the people themselves.
