"Malko Spano Pole" Circus

Circus Malko Spano Pole is open to the south - along the valley of Malka Spanopolska River, a left tributary of the Spanopolska River. Extensive and scattered circus. At its bottom is the Malkospanopol Lake. Used for pasture (alpine grass vegetation).

Spanopolski Lakes are a group of nine permanent and two temporary lakes in the central part of Northern Pirin. Eight are located in the circus Goliamo Spano Pole and one of them – in the circus Malko Spano pole. Their average altitude is 2,350 m They have a glacial origin. Their geological base is granite. Summer water temperature is 10-12°С and is slightly mineralized. From their starts Spanopolska River (Sarchaliytsa) and Little Spanopolska River (Little Sarchaliytsa). The only lake that is in the territory of the municipality of Sandanski is Little Spanopolsko Lake, located under Muratov peak. In the summer the lake dries up, but still a great sight for ecotourism in other seasons.
