Tree of Freindship (Sochi)

In 1934 institute scientist Fyodor Zorin planted a new, cold-resistant wild lemon tree, to which he grafted Japanese tangerines, Spanish oranges, Chinese kinkans, Italian lemons, grapefruit, etc. - a total of 45 species and varieties of citrus. 1940 this tree was dedicated to the memory of the polar explorer O. Schmidt. In 1957, three Vietnamese doctors suggested naming the garden after the tree and now a grove of 60 trees of friendship are in the park with 630 grafts from 167 countries.
