This is the licence area for the Gremyachinskoye Potassium Salt Deposit which was explored from 1978 to 1983 discovering potassium beds at depths between 1030 and 1300 meters. Mining licence VLG 14276T was granted to EuroChem-VolgaKaliy LLC on October 19, 2007 for the exploration and production of potassium salt. That licence is valid until September 25, 2030.

Initial production is targeted for 2.3 million tons of concentrate which will require the extraction of 7 million tons of potassium ron-of-mine ore each year, with commencement in 2013. The ultimate goal for stage 2 is to increase productioni to 4.6 millioni tons per year by 2020.

The access to the underground workings will be via 2 shafts 7 meters in diameter on the southern part of the mine field. Shaft No. 1 is a cage shaft which will primarily be used for hoisting personnel, equipment, and materials. It will also serve as the removal shaft of return air. Shaft No. 2 is a skip shaft which will primarily be used to hoist the potassium ore and for feeding in fresh air. Shaft bottom chambers will be constructed at a depth of 1114m for shops and related facilities. The mining method being employed will by room and pillar extraction using diesel mining machinery.
