At present, eight tourist vehicles are registered at Karhandla gate while three at Gothangaon gate. No Gypsies are registered at Paoni and Pullar gate.three more tourist vehicles are in the process of registration for Karhandla gate.

On sighting of any animal, including tiger, tourist vehicle should not halt for more than five minutes
Only registered Gypsies can enter Umred-Karhandla wildlife sanctuary
There should be minimum 50 metres distance between two vehicles
Guides and Gypsy owners won't be allowed to take their mobile phones inside the park
Forest guards instructed to keep a watch on tourists as well as staffers
Department plans to open area near Satighat Lake for tourists to promote birdwatching

This wildlife sanctuary in Maharashtra. is home to resident breeding tigers, herds of Gaur, wild dogs and also rare animals like flying squirrels, pangolins and honey badger.

Approximate area of the proposed sanctuary is 250 km2 (97 sq mi). It is bounded roughly by the Wainganga River and the Gosikhurd Dam on the northeast,Major State Highway 9 (Maharashtra) and Biwapur Town on the south, Umred City on the west and a narrow 10 km (6.2 mi) long range of 600 m (2,000 ft) - 800 m (2,600 ft) high hills to the northwest. Elevation of the sanctuary is mostly around 260 m (850 ft) except for the hills in the northwest and some 360 m (1,180 ft) hills in the east.

There are 3 gates to enter the park - Karhandla, Pullar and Gothangaon. Safari from Karhandla gate can be booked in advance from Maharashtra Tourism website.
