Sriharikota is a barrier island off the coast of the coramondal shore of Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh state boders in India. It houses India's only satellite launch centre in the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (also known as SHAR) and is used by the Indian Space Research Organisation to launch satellites using multi-stage rockets such as the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle and the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle.

Sriharikota separates the Pulicat Lake from the Bay of Bengal, and is home to the town of Pulicat. It is in Sri Amarajeevi Potti Sri Ramulu Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh. The nearest city is Chennai and connected by express highway.

  • Good luck, India, in the physical/material trip to the Chandra. Let's see if and information coming from ISRO matches the info of the yogis who have 'visited' the Moon from time to time in a far more sophisticated way.
  • Why is this place being labeled as an 'island'? And did anyone check the vastu before building the site. From the map, that water body to the south doesn't seem favorable for such an important enterprise?

  • everytime a rocket is launched , the fisherman are advised not to go for fishing, because three years back, a rocket launched towards moon, fell over the fishermen and 3 died, so fishermen be carefull
