Group 1 was a cluster of six buildings connected via above-ground corridors, as well as three detached outbuildings. They were constructed in the mid-1890s. The cluster was abandoned sometime in the 1960s and most of it was destroyed by fire (arson) in 1972; the entire cluster was demolished immediately after the fire, the three outbuildings were demolished sometime later in the mid-1970s.
