cannery, historic ruins
Also known as White Star Olga Fishing Station. The Olga Bay cannery was constructed by the Arctic Packing Company in 1889 eight miles to the southwest. That cannery was known as South Olga Fishing Station, also known as Red Star Olga Fishing Station. Due to low capacity, it was moved to this location and added improved processing equipment. When the Kodiak Packing Company was closed in 1891, its quota of fish was packed here. The company joined the Alaska Packers Association in 1893, and it continued operation until 1932. It was dropped from the active canneries list in 1936.
