village, ghost town, historic ruins
Former native settlement on the southern coast of Ugak bay, Kodiak Island, Alaska. May also be known as the Russian name Orlova or Orlavskoe. The population was 147 in 1880, but reduced to 77 in 1890. A post office was established in 1898, and photos show the village at one time had a church. Likely a native settlement that grew into a fishing community surrounding a former nearby cannery operated by Eagle Harbor Packing Company.
