Was delivered to the USAF in August 1958 and was assigned to the 4238th Strategic Wing at Barksdale AFB, where she served in frontline SAC service until 1961. Transferred to the AF Proving Ground Center at Eglin AFB in 1963, the aircraft was used as a weapons testing platform for several systems including the AGM-28 Hound Dog missile through 1970.

Retired from USAF service in 1973, the aircraft was loaned to the government of Oklahoma City and placed on static display outside the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds in 1974 where she remained until 2006. Loaned to the Joe Davies Heritage Airpark by the USAF in early 2007, the aircraft was disassembled and moved to its current location where it was placed on static display in April 2009.

57-0038 is the only surviving example of a B-52 "F" model.
