Farragut is a sub-neighborhood in the east central section of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The area is part of the greater East Flatbush neighborhood and Brooklyn Community Board 17.
The area was largely populated by Jews and Italians before 1950. In the 1980s, mostly African American blacks became a majority by the 1990s, including along with many immigrants from the West Indies.The neighborhood is served by the NYPD's 84th. Precinct.
The neighborhood was named for American Civil War Admiral David Farragut.
