 apartment building, 1999_construction

9-story postmodern residential building completed in 1999. Designed by Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer Associates, the building is U-shaped, with a courtyard facing onto South Cove Park. It is clad in dark-red brick, with portions of the 1st & 2nd floors in white limestone on a grey granite water table. Some of the bays on the east and west elevations are slightly recessed, either up to the top two floors, or all the way to the roof. The bays bordering these have floor-to-ceiling windows three or four panes wide, with green metal framing, and vents built into the lower parts. The remaining bays have double windows with vents located below. Each of the building corners are open, with wraparound windows framed in green metal.

On the north and south facades, there are bays of single windows bordering the open corners. The center of each facade is recessed from the 3rd-7th floors, with alternating bays of green-framed angled bay windows projecting out to the building line. River Watch has 209 apartment units, and an underground parking garage accessed from Third Place.
