Zero Chaining point for the IND Division of the New York City Subway. Chosen for obscure political reasons IND Zero is located at the intersection of an imaginary tangent line running from the midpoint of the West 4th Street Station and the New York/New Jersey border. IND Zero was calculated to be 96,925 feet (18.357 statute mi or 29.542 km) from the south ends of the Eighth Avenue Line platforms at West Fourth Street. Most IND chaining numbers are then calculated from that figure, increasing northbound and decreasing southbound.

  • I calculated that telemetry myself but I came up with 55,378,008ft which as we all know spells boobless on a calculator when it's flipped upside down. Because of this, I'm satisfied that the IND system is structurally sound.
