This Irrigation Project is under construction and shall be completed by 2019. It will cater 80 TMC water and will link upto River Krishna. It will generate 960 MW Hydro Power. This is the first River Linking Project which has been sought by Sir Arthur Cotton in 1861 and the Governments have been attempting to implement since 1946. It will give life to almost 10 Districts in the State of Andhra Pradesh. The total cost of the Project including Power Plant as of 2016 is about Rs. 40,000 Crores.
