Sriramsagar is located at Pochampad village in Balkonda mandal of Nizamabad district.Foundation stone for this project was laid by first prime minister of India Sri Jawaharlal Nehru. It is an irrigation project across river Godavari in Andhra Pradesh and it irrigates around 4.00 lakh acres of land in Nizamabad,Karimnagar,Warangal and Adilabad Districts. Gutpa and Alisagar lift irrigation schemes in Nizamabad district feeded by the back water of this project. Laxmi canal irrigates Nizamabad and Kakteeya canal irrigates the Karimnagar and Warangal districts. And also provides drinking water facility to the above districts. There is Hydro-electricity generating plant working at dam site. And generates (9X3=27) 27 MW of power by 3 turbines. It also provides drinking water facility to Warangal city.

This is the God of farmers of Telangana. Before this Dam all the agricultural fields were infertile and unirrigated, starvation was there. When it came into existence lakhs of acres of crops are being grown in this region. Hats of to the planners and builders of this great Dam.
