The original structure of the Hunter High School was constructed in 1924. The gymnasium and stage were added in 1952. A classroom addition was attached in 1960. In 1976, following the merger with the Arthur School District, the building became Dakota Elementary School. Following the completion of the Northern Cass Public School, the building was sold in 1999 to be converted into an apartment building for the community. It is now occupied by JDR Brazilian Embroidery Elegance.
