Mixed Arab Christian and Kurdish district in Aleppo. Most of Kurds fled from the district after a part of it was captured by "rebels" during Battle for Aleppo. Part of the Kurdish population of district returned in next years after the expulsion of the rebels/allies from it.
Divided control since begin of the Battle for Aleppo (gov't - rebel's control until late February 2016, when YPG from Sheikh Maqsud captured small part of the district, and gov't - Kurdish control since late July 2016 after YPG and gov't forces fully defeated rebel-Nusra alliance in north-western districts of Aleppo).
