In 1921 the Anglican Church constructed a church building an this site and dedicated it as St Nicholas Anglican Church. In 1938, a brick building with seating for 250 was completed and the former stucco church building became the church parish hall. Both buildings were replaced in 1956 when the present stone structure was built.

In 1968 the church was closed and sold to the Seventh Day Adventists and in 1977 it became the Emmanuel Pentacostal Church. The property was acquired by St Joseph Syriac Catholic Church in 2004 which carried out extensive renovations and cleaned the exterior.
