This is an officially designated conservation area, covering 76.86ha (189.9 acres) of Bournville. It was designated on 17th June 1971, and extended on 7th October 1971, 18th June 1981, and 14th July 1994.

It is one of the largest conservation areas in the city, with over half of it covered by Article 4(2) protection status, giving greater restrictions on changes to the appearance of the applied area.
