Baheta Mariam, commonly referred to as Baheta, or Kidist Mariam, is a Monastery Church built in 1917 by Empress Zewditu, the daughter of Emperor Menelik II. Located within the imperial enclosure, it's one of the most impressive churches in Addis Ababa. Built of stone, the square structure has a central dome, with a large gilt crown placed on its top. The church entrances are guarded by eight statues of lions. The Mausoleum of Menelik II lies within the church of Baheta.
