Menelik II Mausoleum was built by Empress Zewditu in 1917. It houses the remains of the Emperor, his spouse and his daughter, Empress Taytu and Empress Zewditu, respectively. It also houses the remains of Princess Tsehai, Emperor Haile Selassie's daughter, and also Archbishop Matewos, known as Abune Matewos, who crowned Menelik II.
