RNAS Osprey was the Royal Navy’s training base for Lynx Helicopters.
With the closing of RNAS Osprey, the South West Regional Government and Rural Redevelopment Board supported the building of a sailing academy and associated business on the site for local employment.

Virtually all of the original buildings were demolished and recycled, including the original bean can hanger that had survived from when the air station first opened.

However, the control tower and adjoining building is still in situ. A modern office block has been built in front of the control tower, heavily restricting the control room’s view of the area
