Created when the Royal Navy Air Station (RNAS) Osprey was redeveloped as the Weymouth & Portland Sailing Academy. This high sided channel is designed to allow storm water to flow out of Chiswell and Victoria Square. Chiswell is prone to flooding by sea water coming over Chesil Bank during strong storms.
