  • I went there as a kid in the early 70's. The tour guides tried to tell us that filming went on regularly for the TV show. I have friends that worked on the show and they told me the truth. It did not, after the TV pilot was filmed and sold. The regular filming was at Paramount Studios, Hollywood, Calif on sound stages and backlot. Even the home built on the theme park was a fake to fool the tourists. Once in a great while, the cast would be paid to appear there for publicity shots. I have a souvenier tin cup that was sold to serve Long Branch Bar drinks to the tourists. The ranch was a tourist trap of major proportions, much like Virginia City NV.
