Burke Lake is located at 52°10′00″N, 106°18′00″W or legal land description of Township 37- Range 3 -West of the 3rd Meridian.
It is named after Constable Patrick "Paddy" Burke of the Northwest Mounted Police. He served in the NWMP from 1875 until his death during the North-West Rebellion. He was killed during the Battle of Cut Knife on May 2, 1885.
