Liberty Inn

USA / New Jersey / Hoboken / Tenth Avenue, 51

3-story hotel completed in 1908. Designed by Richard R. Davis, the building sits on its own small triangular block by the Hudson River. The base and roof parapet are smooth-stuccoed, with the upper floors clad in red brick. A flagpole is located on the roof.

It used to be the Strand Hotel, a sailors' haunt built by the Conron Brothers poultry dealers. In 1912, it served as the New York Times' headquarters for covering the Titanic disaster. Later it became The Anvil, a decadent gay club (1974-86).

The building currently houses the Liberty Inn, offering conventional overnight accommodations, as well as having two- and three-hour rates available.
